Vanessa Smith

Vanessa Smith, born on October 31, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, peacefully passed away on December 22, 2023, at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. She was 62 years old. Vanessa was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

After graduating high school, Vanessa pursued further education by attending three years of college. She had an avid thirst for knowledge and always sought opportunities to expand her understanding of the world around her.

She found joy in traveling and particularly trips to the  Smokey Mountains and Myrtle Beach.  Exploring new places brought her great happiness and created lasting memories.

In addition to her love for travel, Vanessa delighted in playing games and partaking in Bingo nights with friends and family. 

She is survived by her beloved son Casey Travis Smith of Roark, KY. Additionally, she leaves behind two brothers: Robert Felix "Bobby" Smith (Ruth) of Roark, KY; Victor Daniel Smith of Woodbine, KY; three sisters: Melinda Charlene Leschinsky (Carl) of Roark, KY; Emily Crystal Roberts (Randall) of Manchester, KY; Melanie Ann Smith of Beverly, KY. 

Vanessa was also blessed with a cherished grandson, Hunter Smith.

She held a special place in the hearts of nieces Faith Sturgill, Ashley Smith, Alexis Napier, Cassandra Osborne, Katie Smith, Jennifer Wagers, Tiffany Smith and Brianna Toler. Additionally, her nephews James Smith, Randy Roberts, Charleston Smith, Braydon, Braxton, and Blake Toler.

 She was preceded in death by her mother Hazel Smith,  her beloved son Chadwick Ryan Smith and her grandparents Woodard and Emily Smith.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 at 1 P.M. with Eugene "Friday" Roberts officiating.

The interment will follow the service at the Collett Cemetery at Essie, KY with James Smith, Carl Madden, Randy Roberts, Casey Smith and William Collett serving as pallbearers. 

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home
