Will Baker, born May 06, 1908 at Dryhill, Kentucky to the union of the late Matt Baker and the late Nannie Dixon Baker. He departed this life on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, KY. He was 102 years, 1 month and 5 days of age at the time of his passing. He was a life long resident of Leslie County and by occupation was a carpenter, coal miner and operator of the former Texco Station. Will was a World War II Veteran, having proudly served in the united states army. He was a member of the Masonic Order. He was also a member of the Leslie County D.A.V Chapter 133 and was a charter member. He served as election officer for over 25 years. Will enjoyed watching Baseball, being an avid Reds fan, UK basket ball, sitting on the porch, vacationing in Myrtle Beach, spending time with his grandson and tending his fruit trees. He also enjoyed celebrating his birthday and Christmas. He is preceded in death by his parents; His loving wife: Grace Begley Baker; Four sisters: Alta Woods, Alice Gross, Ella Sandlin and Em Osborne. Four brothers: Dan, Clifton, Craft and Claude Baker. Will leaves the following relatives surviving: One loving daughter: Lisa Sizemore & Denver Dean of Hyden, KY; One special grandson whom he dearly treasured: William Dean Sizemore. A Special Thank You to the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center and the Mary Brekinridge Hospital for the kindness and care rendered to Will. A host of many other relatives and friends also survive.
