Wilma (Williams) Moodie

Smilax, Kentucky

Wilma C. Moodie, of Polls Creek Road, Smilax, Kentucky was born December 22, 1948, at Line Fork in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Nick and Betty Jane Williams.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, Kentucky.  She was united in marriage to Fred Moodie on April 11, 1995, in Massachusetts. She was an avid flower gardener and cherished the times spent with family and friends.

Wilma passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on Sunday, September 12, 2021.  She was 72 years old.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by, her husband, Fred Moodie, six brothers, John, Elvin, Daniel, James, Milburn and Paul, three sisters, Alice Estep, Polly Browning and Suzanna Williams.

Wilma leaves behind one niece she loved as a daughter, Rebecca Couch of Smilax, KY, two sons, David Pugsley & Minnie of Smilax, KY and Doug Pugsley of Providence, RI.  Other survivors include, one brother, Ted Williams of Letcher Co., and a sister, Joy Smith & John of Partridge, KY.  Two special friends, Carrie Couch and Jamie Boggs Watts.

A graveside service will be held at 2p.m. – Monday at the family cemetery at Smilax, Kentucky with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow with Milburn Williams, Jr., Manuel Baker, Ted Williams, Jimmy Langdon and Brady Couch serving as pallbearers.  There will be visitation at the cemetery beginning at 1:00 P.M.

The family has entrusted Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home to carefully handle the arrangements.
